2009 - Our 26th Year of Successful Fishing Charters on Lake Erie and Lake Ontario
Dear Fellow Anglers,
Well another phenomenal year fishing Lake Erie and Lake Ontario has passed quickly and I hope this letter finds you well. The Walleye Fishing in Lake Erie this year was very good with close to limit catches on most charter trips. Lake Erie Yellow Perch trips this year was the Best I ever experienced in all the years I've been searching for these Jumbo's. The DNR rule for No - Commercial Net Fishing in the Western Basin has really help build back our Perch population and the future looks real promising. Lake Ontario this year was also very good for The Explosive King Salmon and Steelhead Trout. If you have never fished “Salmon” before, by all means book a charter with us from Early August through August 31, 2010. Battling a 20-30 pound “King” is truly a test of stamina, while he leaps and dances across the pristine waters of Lake Ontario.
The “ Erie Drifter” continues to be a huge advantage over other competitors due to the diesal fuel efficiencies, The Bottom Line is we can run farther and faster to put you on the best bite which seems to getting away from the huge fleet out in “no mans land”. The huge deck space and cabin room provide a dry and comfortable charter trip for all the various types of Fishing we specialize in. The purchase of the 2007 Sportcraft 302, powered with this 315 Horsepower Yanmar Diesal sure helped in our goal to provide safe and successful charter trips this past year.
April Walleye fishing was just OK this past year, when the weather allowed us we caught good limits of spawning Walleye's. May came on like gang busters and good Walleye fishing lasted most of the summer and fall. The DNR has reported an OK hatch from this years spawning rituals, however if we don't have a great hatch rate this year, I believe DNR will have some limit cuts for 2011. Smallmouth Bass fishing this year was decent, trips to Pellee Island Canada was the best and September this year was spectacular Smallmouth Bass action on the Reefs in front of the Davis Besse power station.
The Point Breeze, New York “King Salmon” fishing this year was exceptional with many rebooking customers for Xtra days for 2010. The Largest “King” this year was caught by 14 Year old Alexander Moore, from Rochester NY, 39 inches long and weighed over 30 pounds. With the Pen Rearing Project in place since 1998, Sportfishing for Chinook, Steelhead, and Browns have exceeded there expectations of this unbelievable fishery. This is all accomplished by an army of volunteers that donate their time and hard work for a successful future to this wonderful Great Lake. If you are interested in booking a trip of a lifetime, we would suggest that you call early due to the short time we are here.
We are happy to announce that our Lodgeing has been repainted and reskirted with deck wood that will match the new deck and also a new Weber Stainless Steel 4 burner Gas Grill has been purchased for your barbecue needs. We continue to strive to be “Not The Biggest, Simply The Best” Charter Service on Lake Erie and beyond. To view Pix's , please visit www.eriedrifter.com.

BEST Day Perch Fishing EVER!
Posted by Administrator (admin) on Nov 15 2009 at 7:04 AM
This was by far the best day I have ever had perch fishing lake erie. November is the time when these fish really go crazy, gorging themselves before winter. The size and numbers of perch was unbelievable. Pretty soon we might have to start calling Lake Erie the "PERCH CAPITAL OF THE WORLD!" For details on how to key into these fish contact me, Captain Tom Straus.
