What a Lake Erie Walleye!
This legendary catch by Jim Couch weighed in at 15.8 lbs., just 11 oz. shy of the state record. We spotted a school of big females while we were leaving the harbor and we couldn't go any further. This was the biggest of many 10+ lb. fish we caught in the early spring that year.
*2005 Winner of the Wild Wings Largest Fish Award*
The Wild Wings Largest fish award is a competition hosted by Wild Wings Marina for all charter captains operating from the marina full time. Every year the competition runs from May 1st through August 31st and each person who charters a boat from one of the captains in the marina is eligible to win if they indeed catch the largest fish of the year. The person who catches the fish gets a $600 cash prize which is given to them the week before Christmas that same year. In 2005 Captain Tom Straus' client, Rick Schlinger of Monee, IL, won the competition by boating a 12.8 lb., 32'' lunker walleye aboard the Erie Drifter!
30 Lb. 39'' King Salmon caught by Alexander Moore
Alexander Moore battled this 30# plus King Salmon on a charter with his grandfather Dr. Bob Moore. This trophy fish, caught August 2009, will be hanging on the wall soon as it should. What a fish of a lifetime! For more pictures please visit the Photo Album.
Snakebite's 14.6'' Lake Erie Yellow Perch OHIO!
Smallmouth Bass (21" 6.5lbs.) caught by Art Sradeja Oak Harbor, OH while Night Walleye Fishing! Caught casting a Reefrunner Ripstick Blue Hawaiian color. This huge Smallmouth came while casting and retrieving very slowly, she took 15 minutes to land, fish caught using 6lb test Fireline. We were on Gull Island Shoals in 6 feet of water in October 2008.
